Fellow
Craft
The Fellow Craft degree is the second stage in Freemasonry, building on the foundations laid as an Entered Apprentice. At Bute Lodge, this degree represents a deepening of knowledge, understanding, and personal development.

What is the Fellow Craft Degree?
The Fellow Craft degree continues the journey of self-discovery and moral reflection, encouraging members to broaden their intellectual horizons. It introduces lessons related to the liberal arts and sciences, symbolising the importance of learning and the cultivation of the mind. This degree also emphasises the value of applying Masonic principles in daily life.
The Experience
During the Fellow Craft ceremony, candidates are guided through further symbolism and allegory that illustrate the importance of study, industry, and perseverance. It is an inspiring step that challenges members to reflect on their role in their community and their continued growth as Freemasons.

Learning and Growth
As a Fellow Craft, you will explore new dimensions of Freemasonry’s teachings, with the support of your brethren. You will learn more about the tools and symbols of the Craft and how they apply to personal conduct and ethical behaviour. This stage prepares you for the responsibilities and privileges of becoming a Master Mason.
